Autopsy II
I created 4 gigantic plastic bags made from crystal clear vinyl sheet. Inside each bag, a facial close up is being deconstructed. The fragments of the facial parts is suspend in the bags. Through the structure of the vinyl bags, the displacement of the face manifested in a fluid way, allowing the viewer to see different composition of the face depending on their perspective. The crystal clear vinyl material refers to human autopsy, a vivid violence delivered within a silent stillness.
The installation takes shape as 4 crystal clear vinyl sculptures, suspended along a wall from the ceiling.
Through this project, I intended to explore the face through deconstruction and reconstruction. With the combination of the photography and sculpture, the structures within these two media play against each other at the same time achieve harmony. The silent stillness of the photography specimens and the disturbing fluidity achieved as they transform.
